Dr. Amir D. Assili is a highly respected podiatric surgeon and a founding partner of Shady Grove Podiatry in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He completed his graduate training in podiatric medicine at Temple University Hospital, where he also served as chief resident in primary podiatric medicine. His dedication to advancing his skills led him to the prestigious foot and ankle surgical reconstruction residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where he again served as chief resident during his final year. His training included extensive experience in diabetic limb salvage, ankle arthroscopy, Charcot reconstruction, and sports medicine.

In 2002, Dr. Assili returned to the Washington metropolitan area and helped establish Shady Grove Podiatry alongside Dr. Ronald Footer. He also played a key role in developing the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Wound Care Center, where he now serves as co director. Dr. Assili is currently the chief of podiatric surgery at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and is the recipient of the esteemed R I S E S award for exemplifying the hospital values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and stewardship.

Although surgically skilled, Dr. Assili prioritizes conservative care and believes surgery should be considered only after all nonsurgical options are explored. He remains committed to continued learning and participates in advanced surgical courses and FDA clinical trials. A Board Certified Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Dr. Assili is recognized as an expert in diabetic limb salvage and lectures widely on the topic.

Dr. David Baek is a distinguished podiatric surgeon at Shady Grove Podiatry, known for his expertise in advanced wound care, diabetic limb salvage, and sports medicine. He earned his graduate degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in 2003, graduating in the top ten percent of his class. His academic excellence earned him multiple scholarships and a highly competitive externship focused on research and clinical advancement.
 
In 2006, Dr. Baek completed a three year residency at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where he trained in state of the art medical and surgical techniques for the foot and ankle. As chief resident, he received specialized training through the plastic surgery department at Georgetown University Hospital, refining his skill in complex wound reconstruction and diabetic limb preservation.
 
His extensive experience has given him a deep understanding of high risk diabetic wounds and lower extremity pathology. He has authored publications, delivered lectures, and continually pursues hands-on training to remain at the forefront of modern treatment options.
 
As a dedicated endurance athlete who regularly competes in triathlons and marathons, he brings twenty years of sports medicine expertise to his practice. Additionally, Dr. Baek serves the community by providing foot and ankle care for the underserved population of Montgomery County as a volunteer physician with the Kaseman Clinic.
 
Dr. Baek is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and fluent in Korean. He is proud to serve patients at Shady Grove Podiatry with compassion, precision, and a commitment to exceptional care.

Dr. Hoan Dang was born in Vietnam. At five years old, his family of eight moved to the then small city of Greensboro, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at  Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). He continued his education at Temple University  School of Podiatric Medicine, where he was inducted into the Phi Delta  National Honors Society and earned numerous scholarships. He successfully graduated with honors and received his Doctorate of  Podiatric Medicine.
 
Dr. Dang completed one of the country’s most comprehensive three-year reconstructive foot and ankle residency programs at Aria Health System (now part of Jefferson Health), a level II trauma center in northeast Philadelphia. He is ABFAS Board Certified Podiatric Foot and Ankle surgeon that specializes in sports medicine, management of fractures to the foot and ankle, acute injuries, foot and ankle deformities, reconstructive surgery, and general practice. He is a member of the American Board of  Podiatric Medicine, American Podiatric Medical Association, Maryland  Podiatric Medical Association, and American College of Foot and Ankle  Surgeons.
 
Dr. Dang believes in realistic expectations by building a foundation based on deep doctor-patient relationships. He believes the best treatment will bring about the highest quality and outcome for the patient, whether it be through conservative or surgical methods.
 
Outside of work, Dr. Dang enjoys a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. He plays billiards, table tennis, and tennis. He has retired from basketball and volleyball.  He has also retired from Latin dancing, feeling as though he has two left feet. When relaxing, you can find him at the beach or poolside.

Dr. Jon Dillard is a highly skilled foot and ankle surgeon and the Podiatry Section Chair at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive ankle surgery, he brings extensive expertise in minimally invasive bunion surgery, flatfoot reconstruction, trauma care, and sports medicine. Raised in a military family, Dr. Dillard lived across the United States before earning his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland. His interest in podiatry was inspired by his own experiences with chronic foot pain as a collegiate basketball athlete.

He went on to earn his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University, where he served as Class Vice President and was inducted into the school honor society. Dr. Dillard completed his intensive surgical residency at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, training with orthopedic trauma surgeons who treat professional athletes. As chief resident, he performed more than fifteen hundred procedures spanning elective forefoot surgery to complex rearfoot and ankle reconstruction.

Dr. Dillard has contributed research to the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and has presented nationally. At Shady Grove Podiatry, he is committed to delivering compassionate, individualized care using modern techniques and evidence based practices. Outside the office, he enjoys tennis, basketball, beach trips, and time with his dog Wilson.

Dr. Svetlana Malinsky is a dedicated and highly experienced podiatrist serving communities across Maryland for more than 22 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Maryland at College Park before completing her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2002. Her strong scientific background and clinical training laid the foundation for her comprehensive approach to foot and ankle health.

Dr. Malinsky completed her residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Metropolitan Hospital and the Foot Clinics of New York, where she gained advanced experience in both conservative and surgical treatment. Her areas of expertise include diabetic foot care, wound care, sports medicine, and the management of common conditions such as heel pain, bunions, and plantar fasciitis.

Throughout her career, Dr. Malinsky has built a respected private practice with multiple locations across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. She is known for her compassionate, patient centered philosophy, taking time to understand each individual’s needs and goals. Her commitment to personalized care helps patients maintain mobility, prevent complications, and achieve long-term comfort and function.

Dr. David Siegel is a skilled and compassionate foot and ankle surgeon dedicated to delivering individualized, evidence-based care. A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with academic honors, gaining a strong foundation in human movement and musculoskeletal health. He went on to earn his Doctorate from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class.

Dr. Siegel completed an intensive three-year surgical residency at INOVA Fairfax Medical Campus, performing more than two thousand procedures that spanned routine foot care, reconstructive surgery, bunion correction, trauma management, and sports injury treatment. His training included mentorship from renowned orthopedic trauma surgeons, strengthening his expertise in complex foot and ankle pathology.

He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and has contributed original research to this field, including a 2024 publication outlining an innovative surgical approach. Dr. Siegel also performs total ankle replacement, offering advanced solutions for patients with severe arthritis.

Known for his thoughtful, patient centered approach, Dr. Siegel prioritizes careful listening and shared decision making. A native of the DC area, he is proud to serve his community and enjoys staying active through golf, fitness, and time with loved ones.
